A Western New York man trying to in-line skate his way to Yankee Stadium was less than 100 miles from New York City on Wednesday and was expected to make it there by Friday as planned.
Matthew Schreiner, 25, who grew up in Orchard Park and Niagara Falls, is raising money and awareness about cancer for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. His father, Michael, survived a battle with cancer.
He set off from Roswell Park last week and hoped to skate as much of the route as safely possible. According to a friend, Schreiner was walking along Route 6, heading toward Milford, Pa., with his father and his grandfather following in a car.
