Ronald P. Spence, longtime owner of a family jewelry store in Derby, died unexpectedly Friday in his Angola home. He was 62.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Spence was a 1969 graduate of Williamsville South High School.
His family manufactured jewelry, dating back to the 1880s, and Mr. Spence was the third generation to run the business. He opened a retail shop, Jewelry by Spence, in Derby in 1977.
He operated the jewelry store for 35 years, until the time of his death.
Mr. Spence was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed boating and classic cars.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, the former Bonnie Stec; two sons, Jay Giron and Michael; two brothers, Paul Cragnoline and Wayne; and two sisters, Marilyn Geber and Joan Harucki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 Commercial St., Farnham.
