NEWFANE – Main Street will be jumping with two back-to-back community events this upcoming weekend, starting with the seventh annual Bike Cruise on Friday evening.
The free event is open to all makes and models of motorcycles and runs from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will feature music by the Weight and is open to all ages.
“We had 1,000 motorcycles last year, and we’re looking to better that number, weather permitting,” said Sue Neidlinger of the Newfane Business Association.
The Business Association is sponsoring the event, along with the Depot Open Air Bar, Certo Brothers Distributing, Kantor Law Firm and the North Tonawanda Harley Group.
“There will be lots of food and some motorcycle merchandise vendors,” Neidlinger said.
Festivities continue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Main Street with the town’s Craft and Sidewalk Sale. A parade will kick off at 11 a.m. and family entertainment will be provided throughout the day. The event also will feature an art show, craft and food vendors and small flea market. The United Methodist Church will sponsor a chicken barbecue.
Main Street will be closed between Ewings Road and East Avenue for both weekend events.
“Our new ice cream shop, Scotchie’s Ice Cream [at 2728 Main St.], will be sponsoring an ice cream eating contest this year, too,” said Neidlinger. “This event is just a fun time. Everyone in Newfane comes out and walks Main Street and grabs something to eat.”
For more information or a vendor application for Saturday’s event, stop at Wilson’s Pizza Shop at 2730 Main St.
Saturday’s event is sponsored by the Newfane Business Association, First Niagara Bank and Insurance, M&T Bank and MPD Architects.
