Lois Marie Hein, of Englewood, Fla., and Clarence, an antiques dealer and genealogist, died Aug. 17 in Buffalo General Medical Center. She was 79.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., the former Lois Marie Michon grew up in Bergen County, N.J., and lived in Gardnertown, in Orange County, N.Y., from the late 1960s until 1984, when she and her husband retired and moved to Florida.
Mrs. Hein was an antiques dealer for many years, owning shops that specialized in Early American New England antiques. She also worked for many years as a dental assistant. She and her husband spent years restoring an 1840 farmhouse in Gardnertown.
A patriotic genealogical historian, she promoted American heritage through historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects. She was a member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames, the Colonial Dames of America, the National Society of Daughters of American Colonists, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Kenneth P.; a son, Michael J.; and two daughters, Susan Marie Hofschneider and Allison Lee Ballow.
A memorial service Friday will be private.
