SILVER CREEK – Plans for a benefit 5K race on Saturday in Sunset Bay were announced Monday at the regular meeting of the Hanover Town Board held in Town Hall.
Supervisor Todd Johnson said the town will cooperate by trying to get some extra coverage at the site.
The race starts at 9:30 a.m. A craft show and other beach events are also planned.
The events are set to benefit the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Department.
In other matters, Forestville resident Margaret Borrello asked if the Town of Hanover police contract with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office extends into the village.
Johnson said the contract calls for coverage outside of the village limits. Borrello told the board there is concern about vandalism and activities including ATVs being ridden on the streets of Forestville.
Johnson said she should contact the Sheriff’s Office and also work with the village officials in Forestville.
In other matters, a contract for a new pickup equipped with a plow went to Robert Basil Chevrolet of Fredonia, which submitted the low bid of $29,170.
The new vehicle will be for use in the Water and Sewer departments. Water/Sewer Superintendent Harold Anger asked that the truck be delivered in 90 days.
Joan Berner, representing the Silver Creek/Hanover Garden Club, asked that the club be considered for funding in the next town budget and that a beautification project for Town Hall be considered.
